I’m doing my dream job! It sounds cliché, but my passion has always been interiors. It’s in my blood, my mum has sewn since she was 11 years old and is now the number 1 seam mistress for Groves Interiors! My parents have renovated the 2 houses that we have lived in and with their inspiration, there was no other route for me! I was very fortunate to meet Jodie Grove, the director of Groves Interiors back in 2009, she employed me straight away and I’ve never looked back since! We have a great working relationship and a very similar vision for the business.

I’m normally straight out of bed and straight to my desk first thing in the morning. Once I’ve dealt with any urgent emails and phone calls, I reach for the kettle. A cup of strong tea is a morning essential, and reasonably healthy breakfast of porridge and fruit.
I take a sneaky break in the afternoon to go for a run. It’s my least productive part of the day and I come back refreshed and eager to work. I end up working later into the evening, but my productivity is much higher as a result.
I always carry both my diary and a notebook. I have a tendency to be forgetful, so as long as everything is written down, there’s no chance of me forgetting to put that fabric order in on time or remember to arrange the fitting of a client’s curtains. On a personal level, my wardrobe has to be immaculately organised. The best tip I’ve ever had is to do up the top button of shirts and blouses, this prevents them falling off the hangers, simple but genius!

I can’t live without my diary or my notebook. Between the two I record every single thing I need to do in a day, even go for a run. If it’s not written down, it gives me an excuse not to do it.
I hope to create a brand new workspace this year for myself, it will need to be light and airy, with plenty of shelving for my new book collection that I have just started. And of course, plenty of room for pretty box files to keep everything beautifully organised, as well as a huge amount of space for all of the fabric books from companies that Groves Interiors stock the fabrics of.

Great blog – just discovered it through blog chicks. Love the office pictures – and good organising tips! x
Thanks Ursula!
