It’s in the air. It’s all around. And it’s all you need. I’m talkin bout LOVE. I’ve never been one to expect a big fuss on Valentines Day but I do have a real soft spot for it. How nice it is to have a day to celebrate love! I also have fond memories of one particular V-Day in high school when a boy I had a huge crush on came up to me with a big bunch of pink roses. What ever happened to that boy? Oh I married him. V-Day can sometimes feel a bit overrated because it’s become so commercial. But it doesn’t have to be. Make it your own and keep in mind the bigger picture of what you are celebrating. My experience with love is that it changes you in ways you would never expect. Not only that but love itself changes over time. Love in your teens is very different from love in your twenties and thirties. And having been with the same person for almost half my life, I know that it’s not perfect and it’s not always a fairytale. Love means learning to be vulnerable. It’s about letting go and allowing someone in. It drives you bonkers, it’s inconvenient, and it’s total agony. And there are times when you wonder: is it enough? But if you’re lucky enough to find someone you can share your life with, don’t allow the challenges to overshadow the fact that having that person in your life means that you are able to fly further, reach higher, and dig deeper, knowing that at the end of the day you will always have a warm place to land. And THAT is worth celebrating. Here are some of my favourite finds inspired by love:
