Hello lovelies! How is your week going? I have spent much of the past week giving my study a big ole purge (see here). I am no stranger to giving things a big clean out but there was something about this particular task that ended up being a lot harder than anticipated. My study was filled to the brim of old textbooks, university notes, and resources related to my old job. Lots to do with my old life and it took what felt like forever to decide what I actually wanted to do with all this stuff. This process made me quite emotional and I didn’t expect that. Even though I hadn’t really used this room or most of the textbooks in it for at least a couple of years, the difficulty was in letting go. Letting go of what has defined pretty much all of my adult life. And I found that tough. Delaying this decision was agony (slightly dramatic!) because it ended up delaying the whole project. And being someone who puts in place strict (read: often unrealistic) timeframes for how long things should take, it got me all-a-fluster. In the end I knew what I had to do, I had to move it on… all of it. I’m completely committed to making my new business work no matter how many times I need to fail and try again. So I let it all go.
Once that was done I felt liberated. Like I was ready to move on.
The next step for me was to do some planning around how I want to reconfigure this room. So one Sunday morning I had a long and beautiful conversation with my friend, the gorgeous and ever-inspiring Dana, about this room and about how to give my new workspace and studio a new energy. And I’m so pumped! I put pen to paper and began scribbling down some possible plans. I really want to keep this room simple and clean with space to grow. I also want to try and use as much existing furniture as possible – or incorporate some DIY projects – to keep costs low.
So that’s where I’m up to at the moment. Stay tuned to see what’s up next. Have you seen some inspiring workspaces lately? Let me know, I’d love to check it out! Have a great day!

I’m excited to see how your project develops!
Me too! Slowly but surely
Clearing the clutter is always good and failure is a natural part of business. As you know I just made a huge business change so I am no stranger to letting things go, whether they are a book, and idea, or an entire business plan. Even if I’ve already invested thousands of dollars into it, if it’s not right, it’s not right.
Very wise words, Shayla
You’ve inspired me to tackle my own home office! It was once my fiancés art studio, then he got more into digital art. Then I made it my home office, but slowly starting cramming cluttered things in there! I really want to clean it out now and revamp the desks!
Sounds great! Let me know how you go
